My Little Montana Man

So much has happened in the last couple weeks. Between Garrett's dedication with our family in Colorado and Easter, I have totally lost track of blogging. However, I have been promising some new pictures so here they are.  I don't think there is anyone cuter than my little Montana Man. : ) More pictures and updates soon.

All Smiles

Last night just before I went to bed a ray of sunshine shone in my house. My little baby boy became all smiles and we had tons of fun playing and taking a few pictures. What a wonderful way to end a gloomy day.

Matching the Weather...

It is a gray day here in Great Falls and my mood matches the weather. Usually I LOVE cloudy gray days, it gives me a wonderful excuse to watch a good movie or cuddle with a cup of tea and read my book. Cloudy days are wonderful for cooking, singing, and coloring. But today I don’t like the clouds. I needed blue skies and sun to get me out of this funk. Even my dogs and my son seem in a melancholy mood today.

This morning Matthew left on alert to a silo far far away, so I am on my own till late tomorrow afternoon. I have packing, laundry and errands to do and I have been battling a runny nose for three days. I am feeling guilty for leaving Matthew to put Garrett to bed last night as I went off to sleep both at the beginning of the night and after the 3 o’clock feeding. Selfish! (Don’t worry he has the night shift on alert so gets to go back to bed soon) I am also feeling sorry for myself as we recently got Matthew’s schedule for April and again he is working like crazy. As of this coming Friday he will have worked 26 days straight with one day off. He is such a hard working man. I miss my hubby! There are bright sides to all of these things, but because I am in a funk I don’t feel like looking or writing on the bright side. Sorry for this depressing post, but thanks for letting me mope. So for now it is coffee instead of tea and on with my day. As always thanks for taking time out of your day to read about mine. I hope you have sunny skies wherever you are.

The Look of Love

I love the look of love. Do you know what I mean? Seeing love makes my heart skip and tears come flooding into my eyes. I was looking at pictures of love today on another blog that I follow and I sat at my computer and cried. There were pictures of all sorts. Mother and son, husband and wife, father and son, brother and sister, mother and daughter, old couples, young couples, military reunions… and the list goes on. The cool thing about pictures of love is that they tell a whole story in just one shot. Even if I don’t know the “true” story of the picture one automatically comes to mind. And I love a good love story. I took a QUICK look through the pictures on my computer for some pictures of love that I have.

Got Milk?

Breastmilk is a strange kind of accomplishment. Last night I proudly announced to Matthew that I had three bottles worth of pumped milk in the fridge and four in the freezer. The answer I was met with was a distracted, unenthusiastic “good”. It’s ridiculous but I was so disappointed! Yes I made this milk but it happens automatically. It’s not like I had to put in any real effort to make it appear, in fact it often appears even when I don’t want it to (the grocery store or a restaurant during lunch) but I was disappointed none the less. So now, although embarrassing, I am letting all of you know about my silly little accomplishment so I can get it off my mind. Yay me! I’ve got milk.

Always Late

It’s amazing how long the simplest tasks take now that I have little Garrett. Today I wanted to clean out the trash and dust my car. These tasks usually takes me maybe 10 minutes, today, between Garrett and the dogs it took me just over an hour! The other thing that I have realized is how far in advance I now need to plan to get out the door. It never fails, I am all ready to head out the door and out of the blue have a dirty diaper to change, a shirt that has just been spit up on, and/or a bottle to make. Suddenly I am running 10 minutes late (yes I know these things should not take 10min but somehow when I am running behind they do). Ahhh!! Never the less I am determined to stay active and get out of my house, and I will never again pass judgment on moms running just a little tardy.

I was however delayed in leaving for bible study the other day because I got distracted by Garrett and Romeo taking a nap on the bed together. Here are some pictures I could not pass up the chance to take (even if it makes me late).

Balance

How do you find balance as a parent? This is a question I know I will be asking for many years to come. I am having to ask this for the first time today. I am wondering how you decide between letting your baby cry in his crib because you know he will sleep better there eventually or holding him in your arms because that is where he is sleeping better now (and let’s be honest I love it). How do I find balance between holding my little man all day and making sure I get something ready for dinner?  My little baby is only five weeks old and hearing him cry breaks my heart!  I know that sometimes doing what is hard is doing what is best, but why can’t I feel like it’s the right thing at the time? I am praying that I can keep the right balance in my parenting and in my life in general.
Be Joyful Always, Pray Continually;
Give Thanks In All Circumstances,
For This Is God's Will For You In Christ Jesus.
